it said £60 half price, and they must have though it meant half of £60.

It is likely they were trying to get rid of an old edition of Grays. They had one in Blackwel's for about £40 a few years back. The latest edition costs around £150 - not that it makes much difference. Bartelby put an early edition on the internet for free which is just as good.

Either way, proper Grays is far far too detailed for any contemporary medical degree. You will get bogged down in what is simply irrelevant detail. It is occasionally of use as a reference, but really should be left to adorn the shelves of surgical registrars.

Amazon.co.uk: Gray's Anatomy: The Anatomical Basis of Clinical Practice (Gray's Anatomy): Susan Standring,Jerry Healy,David Johnson,Andrew Williams,Harold Ellis: Books

that one there

so for £30, i'd have been daft to leave it

now i see what you mean. someone in the union really did balls up the price didn't they. Well, 30 quid for gray's is clearly a bargain.

I agree, the pictures are excellent, but they are exceptionally detailed. The diagrams in Moore's Essential Clinical Anatomy are all you need for the spot tests. I only required Gray's when thinking about variable anatomy during my BSc.

For anyone who is feeling left out, most of the pictures used in the latest edition are the same as they have been using for decades and are freely available online for all:

Gray, Henry. 1918. Anatomy of the Human Body

i object to being called dumb gizmo, especially by someone who doesn't even type in english.
£30 is nothing for a medical text book. many are considerably more, especially since the RRP of grays is about £120
