Oxford Handbook of Medical Sciences

Just noticed this book in the shops last week and it looks like it might be pretty useful - it's cross-referenced to the OHCM, etc. Has anyone here invested in a copy and if so what are your opinions? Might it be better to wait for a second edition to come out?

yeh i have this book, cant say i have used it much as i bought it during clinicals last year but took my Bsc so aint used much.
however i would say it will be useful during clinicals since it is very detailed and useful to carry about. its nice having everything in one book.
i would say its prob not worth getting during preclinicals since if you are like me, you rely on lecture notes and recommeded texts, and anyhting else you are suspicious about!!
but once you have learned all preclin stuff, you can see its a very good book, and damn useful to refer to during ward time.

I've used it and found it to be helpful. Then again I like the texts off the suggested list as they seem to be more to the point. I find those pocket books to be far more helpful than the encyclopedia like suggested texts.

cheers
