Pathology Textbook? Advice please
Hi, am going to be a 2nd year med student at St. Andrews this coming year . Our book list advised us to buy Underwood Pathology. In 1st year this book was just un-readable with wayyyy too much over the top info. Hopefully others who have read Underwood might understand what I mean.
Does anyone recommend a pathology textbook thats very easy to understand? cheers.BOAT!!! Oh sorry, thought you said GOAT

For reference I highly rate Underwood. For revision I found Master Medicine Systemic Pathology spot on. Master Medicine also publish a Pathology text as well which may be more suited for your course?

I chose Robbins as my Pathology text and personally it was a mistake. Far too detailed, difficult to read and study from. A great reference but not suitable for most medical students.
I must say I think Underwood is a great pathology text and I would recommend sticking with it next year. With some more experience under your belt I'm sure it will make a lot more sense.
You could try using a revision book such as Crash course or "Baby Robbins" alongside Underwood. Here in Cork the Pathology Department provides all students with a fantastic handbook at the start of Third Year which is a great introduction to the subject... in final year I still refer to it!

Underwood is probably the most balenced and well written pathology text i have come across. It is hard at first, but once you get onto learning from primary literature, it will seem breezy! it covers everything you really need to know in enough detail to explain it, but briefly enough to only have a small section on each specific pathology - without washing over anything completely.
