Boost your chances of gaining entry into medical school!

Empower Youth Academy will be running the 2nd annual Med-Success event at Leicester University on Saturday 17th September 2011. Students who attend can look forward to the following items from the program:

*One-to-one personal statement clinic with current medical students and doctors
*Interview and feedback from a panel of current doctors and medical students who have conducted real university admission interviews
    *Excellent talks on:
    - Writing a winning personal statement
    - Interview tips
    - How to pass the UKCAT
    - Medical ethics
    - Life as a medical student
    - Life as a doctor
    * Small group question and answer sessions for anything else the students would like to know about the application process.

In keeping with our aim of equalising opportunities for all students, we are offering all of the above (yes, and more!) for a small sum of £25, which is truly dwarfed by the gargantuan fees charged by similar programs run in other parts of the country.

    Lunch included!

    Eligibility:
For students approaching UCAS deadline in October. Graduates also welcome to attend.

    Applications:
To apply for a place please email med-success@empower-youth.org.uk, or call Mohammed Koya on 07821 738188 and register your interest. We will continue the correspondence and subsequently send you a ticket and information booklet once we have received your payment. Places are extremely limited and all places will be offered on a first come first served basis.

For directions please see this website: http://www2.le.ac.uk/maps/maps-directions

Note:The course will not be specific to Leicester Medical School, and will be beneficial to you regardless of which university you hope to attend.

    9.30 – 9.45 Introduction

    Hey everyone!!
How were the AS results? Hopefully everything went brilliant! And if it didn't go as planned, seriously, don't despair. You still have every opportunity of getting into med-school and fulfilling your ambitions. There's always a way around!
Remember, at the event you will get every opportunity to ask questions to a range of medical students (from every possible year of the course) as well as recently qualified doctors. You will be able to ask questions tailored to your needs and requirements as to which medical schools you should consider applying to. You will not get a better opportunity to get tips and pointers on every aspect of your application from students and doctors who have already been through the process! Tickets are selling fast! Book your tickets as soon as you can. The day will be invaluable in every way. Forums are very useful but there is nothing better than having a conversation and getting advice from people who have been on the application journey that you are all about experience! Feel free to message me on here if you require any more info. Thanks

We have managed to accumulate a wide variety of medical students and junior doctors for the occasion, in order to offer you advice and answer any questions that you throw at them! Again ITS NOT TOO LATE to book your place so please get back to us (using the details in the first post)! We look forward to hearing from you and rest assured, we have A LOT in store for you on September 17th! A day not to be missed

FINAL Update! Its still not too late to apply for a place! As its now the last week before the event and a bit late to send in payments to us, if you apply now you can actually pay ON the day. However, it is imperative to do two things in this case:
    a) still email med-success@empower-youth.org.uk to apply for a place
    b) ALSO ring me personally on the number below as soon as possible so that I can confirm a few details with you.
    Sumair Qureshi 075022 70638
Look forward to hearing from you soon! It really will be an invaluable experience and in fact we've got MORE workshops planned than last years med-success! Don't miss out!
