Anyone haven't heard a thing from Unis?
Hey everyone,
A friend referred me to this site after I applied in October to do Medicine. I've been reading these forums over the past few months out of curiosity to see what was generally going on with other applicants. & a lot of you give good advice/knowledge! So I thought I'd join & see what you think to my current predicament (although I'm probably being a bit too anxious & I'm sure others are in, if not the same, a similar situation) ...
I still haven't heard from 3 out of my 4 choices and I'm getting really worried if I'm honest. I got a letter through about a week and a half ago inviting me to an interview at Sheffield early March. So I'm really happy about that. & I've had acknowledgements from Kings & Cardiff (& one of those VIP postcard things from Birmingham).
But apart from that, I've heard nothing from those 3 choices
Fair enough if they had rejected me but they haven't and I'm getting a bit worried now because it's quite late in the cycle and I know it sounds paranoid but soon, will there be enough time really to send out a letter, get 1-2 weeks notice for an interview, the interview, & 2-3 weeks for a decision? Cause I've heard that all decisions must be made by 31st March?
A lot of the people who have applied to do Meds at my college have got 2-3 interivews but to be fair, none of them have heard anything from my choices, par Sheffield & 1 from Birmingham (although I only know of 1 or 2 who have applied to Birmingham, Kings or Cardiff). So that's making me even worse!
Anyone want to reassure me or tell me how it is!? Lol.

Awww thanks!
Good luck with all yours! I hope we hear something soon! It's driving me crazy!
Yeah, I get what you mean totally! I'm sick of checking track all the time, haha. I'd just rather know one way or the other.
I know they say "no news is good news" with medicine applicants but there's not really much time left
I'm not really sure when the deadline is either - would anyone care to explain please for the benefits of us confused finger crossers?

I'm pretty sure some interview as late as April! So don't worry there's still time and I don't think the March thing is an official deadline but no I don't really understand it either!
If it makes you feel better I've still not heard from two of my choices and I know other people who are still waiting as well. At least the only thing you've heard so far is that you've got an interview so concentrate on that and good luck!

There's still plenty of time to hear from your other unis, so don't panic. The main thing to focus on is that Sheffield *has* given you an interview. All you need is one offer, and if you come along to the interview reasonably well prepared (i.e. you can tell them why you want to study medicine and why you want to come to Sheffield, and can demonstrate an understanding of current issues in the NHS) then you have an really good chance of getting in.

hey. if you go back through the newmediamedicine archives, you'll come across lots of individuals from previous years who didn't hear anything until march! but as Lyns said, you only need one offer to get into medicine! good luck.

I'm in the same boat as you, except swap your sheffield interview for a Southampton rejection

Like algy-lacy says, prepare well for your interview and you'll be fine. Good luck2nd Year GKT Medic
