Stupidest things said in interviews!

can't appear ignorant at interview now... although at kings i simply just said i didn't know stuff i didn't, like about QUALY...

that was the drug trials where the guys had organ failure etc and lost fingers and toes and stuff
it was in the papers and news a lot i think some guys girlfriend described him as looking like the elephant man?
i wouldnt have had a clue of the name of the hospital though wouldve just had to have a stab in the dark

at an interview i had 3 interviewers:
2 men 1 woman
and the woman was on the heavy side

one of my scenarios eventually came down to talking the woman into getting onto a plane. it was a while ago and my memory is a bit hazy:

me: so why don't u want to get on the plane?
her: i don't want to
me: why don't u want to???
her: i'm afraid...
me: what are u afraid of?
her: of flying
me: what is it about flying that makes u scared?
her: something about dying
me: i don't know why but for some reason i made up this random statistic about how dying in a plane crash is statistically impossible. i compared it to getting hit by lightning or something and i'm glad they didn't ask me where i got that from cause i made it up on the spot and i wouldn't want to say well i pulled it out of my
her: well i'm still afraid
me: can we do something to make u calm down?
her: like what?
me: well u could read a book or something
her: maybe
me: why don't u eat some chocolate

here the 2 male interviewers burst out laughing and the woman sort of laughed.. a little. but i think it was an embarrassed laugh and after the interview i kicked myself for not explaining that eating chocolate releases endorphins or something. i was worried she might have though i was poking fun of her weight by offering to stuff chocolate down her throat to get her on that dam plane.

i didn't really convince her and all of a sudden she was like "ok fine i'll get on"

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/4807042.stm Did my work exp there so i spose they expected me to have read up a bit on it but all my interview prep was tryna think of 'why i want to do medicine' urgh, just typing that out brings back ps memories.

Yeah i made my mind up to say i dont know when i didnt know, but i received the response 'don't worry we just want to see how u tackle the question'--- what the hell? they wanted to watch me squirm so i went out of my way not to. Dam that reverse psych.

the QUALY thing was just to see in case i knew, prob not a serious Q luckily!
check it out on wiki for a gd, but not necessarilt reliable definaition (i trust it all the same)

heh, what uni was that out of interest? sounds like quite a challenge to be asked to do that at interview!

On a play that I wrote and directed 2 years ago in Leeds. They read your personal statement before you go in so a lot of the questions are directed towards you!

'We hear that you wrote and directed a play-can you give us an overview of the story?'

'Well-It is set in a time where wars between schools became quite a bit more literal, in a school where the head teachers neverending quest for love threatened to push the school over the edge.'

'....hmm....and uh....so....what did you learn from it?'

'...That love CAN blossom on the battlefield.

'...*Silence*...'

'And uh....confidence?'

At the end they asked if there was anything else that I wanted to say (about 10 mins after this question) and I said that the play wasn't nearly as bad as I had pitched it to them :P
