St. George's Interview HELP PLEASE!
Hi, a friend told me about this website and when I checked it out I was really pleased to see how helpful all of you were in answering each others questions, so I was hoping you could help me out too please.
I've got an offer for an interview from St. Geroge's and because that's the only one I've got I really don't wanna screw it up. So for all of you who have had interviews at St. George's Medical school in London (whether those interviews were successful or not) could you please tell me about your experinces, questions you were asked, what subject material to prepare for before hand, and general conduct. You have no idea how grateful I would be.
Thanks a bunch

i had an interview at St George's. a lot of us there got asked about research, why is it important and explain an example you know. i was also asked what are the negatvie aspects of being a doctor and what roles are involved during an operation eg surgeon, nusre etc. i was really nervous at mine, which was one of the reasons why i think i didnt get an offer coz i didnt explain and expand things properly... so some advice.. relax, take your time and be clear... and most importantly DONT PANIC!! gd luk

Hey guys,
Main thing i would say would be to just read around, bbc website etc, and form balanced opinions about things. Make sure you look closely at your PS, and dont forget to brush up on 'older' issues such as euthanaisa. My interview went really well and i came out feeling great, because i wasnt nervous, i was euthusiastic, and i think i showed a good bit of personality. Don't be afriad to put feeling into your answers and be ready to think on your feet.
Good luck and remember to enjoy it! St Georges is a really nice place and the friendlyness will overwhelm you!

I was asked about research, my advice: think of good and bad points about it, and present your opinion. I answered thus:
Good points: can lead to cures, can improve the quality of peoples lives with new medicines etc, allows medicine to be the ever growing and evolving field that it is etc Also i mentioned the new massive AID's research project that st georges are doing, and i said it was good becuase of how devastating AID's can be.
Bad points: Can waste money that may need to be used elsewhere, eg clinically. Unsafe or untested medicines may inadvertently be realsed to the public. Big research projects may give false hope to people and ultimate dissapointment.
I then drew it together and gave my opinion. I'll leave you to form your own opinion!
Seriously though, ill mention it again, be PREPARED TO THINK ON YOUR FEET.
Hope that helps.Peninsula Third year
