Should i go to all my interviews?

Hi guys, if you get 4 interviews but already have 2 offers that you wouldnt mind keeping as your first and second choices, is there any point going to all the other interviews? They are generally quite far away from my house and will require me to miss lessons and im more worried about getting the grades than getting 4 offers. If i dont get the grades and want to reapply next year/go through clearing, will it hurt my chances if i reject a universities interview the first time round?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I would say phone the Universities and decline the interviews as you have already been offered places that you have accepted/plan to accept. This will free up University time and allow for someone else to have a shot.

Would be the best thing to do. Plus, as you say, missing precious learning time and wasting money would be ridiculous- just for an extra offer you most probably will decline anyway.

I would have loved to be in your position! If you are comfortable with the offers you have then I don't see a point in spending time doing something that is of no worth to you.

But I would say that you should make sure that going to the other interviews would be of no worth to you.

I say shut up and be gratefull. Loads of people get worried about getting just one interview never mind an offer. Nah im just kiddin you mate. Congratulations on being in such great position- you must obviously have been destined to be a doctor. Personally in your position- i would go to the interviews, take a couple of risks and REALLY impress them and hope that they give an offer lower than AAB. I mean you have nothing to lose and so much to gain. Once again congratulations.

Hiya, I think you should phone up and decline their interviews saying that you are already holding offers. That way you won't have to miss any lessons and are more likely to get the grades and thus be able to accept one of your two existing offers! No point in wasting anybodies time.

The university won't feel upset or anything that you are declining their interview, they will probably appreciate that you were honest and up front more than anything. In fact they probably wont care! In one sense if you go to the interview and the university offers you a place and you decline it that could be worse. But likelihood is that they wont care, you are just one of thousands of applicants to them!

Have you seen the other two places you're applying to? If not, it's worth going just to see if they really impress you. Also, (as another poster mentioned) you've got a long-shot chance of getting a lower grade offer than your existing ones. It's only 2 days off, don't worry about it, and take up every opportunity you can.

I was in a similar position a couple of years ago, with two offers and a Newcastle interview...I liked newcastle, but just couldnt be bothered to go through another interview, and one so far away. I declined the interview on the prinicipal that my heart wouldnt be in it, and it would give someone else a chance instead. They will never give you a lower offer after being ultra impressed lol. The whole point of the high offers, is that quite a number of people wont get the grades and it will give a more manegable year number...If EVERYONE gets the grades, it would be one hell of a problem for the med school hehe, go for it guys!

It's a long-shot, but a lower grade offers are given out very occasionally (admittedly, usually for extenuating circumstances). As for taking other people's places - as I understand it, most interview panels use a points-based system to grade each applicant seperately, so I don't really see it that way.

having been on a few medical interview pannels, i can confirm that they do indeed usually use a points system with X number of points getting an offer.

I think you are in a very strong position, but i would not slam the door on the other 2 unis on the basis that its an effort and you will miss school. If you end up not liking the medical school you end up at you may regret not considering the 2 you declined. I would at least take the time out to have a look at the other universities. If you really dont want to go, then phone and cancel the interview, but i do think it may be a dangerous strategy if you have not visited these unis and decided they are not for you!

    good luck, and well done!
