With all the crap that's going on at the moment, I'm now seriously starting to have second thoughts about whether Medicine is going to be a good career to go into. Something like Dentistry seems much easier and the pay looks rather good.

you've already got a place for medicine, you worked really hard to get where you are. All that revision, writing a PS about your love for medicine, the interviews, the UKCAT etc etc so don't let something temporary put you off hash!

MTAS may be staying put, but it is hard to see how it can be any worse than this year. It's dire. People are leaving, becoming physically ill, relationships are being torn apart. The hospitals are not sure if they will have SHO/Reg level staff in August, they are discussing emergency staffing solutions. The patients will be affected too.

It cannot be worse. The consultants involved with recruitment now have actual insight into the MTAS mess. They WILL refuse to participate unless the application system is improved. I would imagine CVs will be added to the process, as lack of appropriate information has been one of the key failings.

But the number of jobs available are likely to decrease per capita med grad. Medicine is definitely not the secure career it once was.
