generally pass marks vary becos courses vary in the way they are examined, marked, and becos they've of course all evolved seperatelt down their own pathways over time in diferent school environments.

40% at nottingham, 60% in some london schools, to 70% at stockton/durham, with almost always one resit attempt everywhere.
some places all units must be passed, others nearly all units, whilst others use a 'compound mark' from some (or all?) units.

i actually do believe that some med schools exams are significantly easier than at other places.
note by 'easier', that can be on a personal level - one can find some courses more suited to you and therefore easier for you. or easier for everyone, or more dificult for you, or everyone. abiomedically inclined stooge would thrive on a nottingham course but might fall way behind at PMS. a self motivator at PMS would be severely held back and bored senseless by a lecture based course at UCL (?).

also med school exams evolve, so one years students may have different more/less difficult circumstances than the last years. newly introduced modules can be quite easy, or devilishly difficult.

Southampton's pass mark is 50%. You used to be able to compensate slightly between some areas but i'm not sure whether that has been stoped now. Resits are capped at 50%.

There is just pass fail apart from a few who gain a distinction.

Liverpool yr 1 is 75% both OSCEs, and in the region of 60% for the papers with some wiggle room depending on general performance in the exam. With the papers we dont get our raw percentage, we get banded marks of 65, 75 or 85 ( might aswell be A, B, C really as with A-levels). We have to pass all of them, one set of resits in summer, ECs needed afterwards to avoid being thrown off the course.
