Elective in Rwanda/Burundi/Repub. of Congo?
I'm only a second year but starting to look into organising my elective for my 5th year as I know it can take a very long time to plan.
I'm looking for an attachment with lots of clinical experience, particularly with patients with infectious & tropical diseases. I'm also looking to use and improve my french and possibly write up my elective from the angle of practicing medicine in a country where you're not fluent in the native language/it is not your 1st language.
I'm thinking Rwanda, Burundi or the Republic of Congo covers these bases as well as being relatively safe.
This will not be my first time in sub-saharan Africa.
If anyone knows of any contacts etc. that might be useful to me, or know of anyone that has written about their experiences in any of these countries, please let me know!- Visit the Peninsula Society of Tropical Medicine: here.

None of these countries are currently at war as such, althiugh certain parts of RoC near the DRC are a bit hairy, and I think Buruindi might be descending a bit right now...
RoC and Rwanda are prob the best bets.
Not many people on english speaking sites have done electives there though
