    Last minute mini-elective (ideally UK)

    Hi there,

I'm a 3rd year student at George's due to take a 3 week mini elective in April. I was initially planning to go to Nigeria, but unfortunately this plan has fallen through. So now I'm frantically seeking something in the UK, ideally in London so that I can afford it. It seems to be such a slow process though, and I'm worried I won't find anything in time (strictly speaking, I won't - I'm supposed to have a proposal ready by Friday) I'm really interested in psych, and would love to find something in that field, but I guess that this late in the day, beggars can't be choosers. Does anyone have any recommendations for something I could sort out quickly ( ideally somewhere in the vicinity of London, Peterborough, or Liverpool, but ultimately anywhere closer than Pluto)? I'm going to get my balls roasted if I don't sort something out soon.

    Cheers!

Have you thought about doing something in a prison? Lots of psych there and they sometimes take medical students.
ANYTHING WRITTEN BY ME ON THIS SITE DOES NOT REPRESENT THE VIEWS OF SOUTHAMPTON UNIVERSITY!

Finally a final year medical student!

King's have a few SSMs where you go into prison and it takes ages to sort out the security issues, so if you think that it would be interesting then you'll have to work fast for April.

You could approach The Maudsley in Camberwell, the Institute of Psychiatry is there so there are quite a few little projects going on, they have a specialist unit working with HIV positive patients for example.
