Will any american schools take 3rd years?!

Hello,
I'm trying to look into doing an elective in one of the southern states, but everywhere I've emailed have said that elective students must be in their last year of med school (we do our elective at the end of 3rd year) and be from either an American or Canadian school. I have a canadian passport but am studying in England, and it seems nowhere over there will take me!!
Thanks for your help,
Rachael

Rach i think the way we're meant to phrase it to say "i'm a medical student going into my 4th year"... think it sounds better and might persude them to take us. I don't think it's just america, lots of our year have said they have probs. my housemates have found somewhere to go in amercia though.xxx

You can get into hopsitals in America I know a few folks who did it. I think the best thing is to email a CV to varisou hospitals you're interested in and ask them if they would welcome an application from you.
