Electives in HK
Anyone has experiences with their electives in HK? Any advice? which electives are interesting to do and in which hospital? (attached to Li Ka Sing medical school or the medical school from Chinese HK Uni)
thanks

I did an elective in HK based at Queen Mary Hospital (HKU). Feel free to ask any questions.

hk 2012 anyone?
hey, if anyone could help It would be much appreciated.
I applied for elective with HKU at queen mary hospital, and I got an offer but they asked for personal life insurance and disability insurance which needs to cover for infectious diseases, but I'm finding it so hard to get these covers. Does anyone who has been to HKU for elective know if this is really necessary and did anybody get rejected because they didn't get the life insurance? I already purchased a tailor made medical elective travel insurance package, but it seems that this does not cover death by infectious disease- one of the requirements that HKU ask for!
I have also applied to CUHK now just in case I lose my place, as HKU said that they will take about 4 months to get hospital approval!
p.s. Anybody else going to HK for elective this year ?

I did mine in CUHK last year. Depends on who and what specialty you are attached to but you could more or less do as much or as little as you want. They have a brand spanking new hospital that was opened last year. The gastroenterology team is particularly world-renowned.

accepted for HKU 2012 summer
so further to my earlier post, I didn't need the life insurance in the end. (HKU states that you need all those insurance policies but in the end they accepted the travel insurance that I had purchased. )
Anybody have any info about the elective at HKU?
I have also applied to CUHK, in the chance that I may change my mind.. ( mainly because I applied to different specialties at each hospital)
If anybody has anything that could sway my decision either way, please let me know ^^
