Hey guys, I agree with Dave. I went on my elective a year ago to Port Vila. Lovely country with friendly people. The hospital is small but everyone is helpful. I did paediatrics there and was mostly in the clinic where most of the help is needed. The head nurse there is very helpful and friendly. Dr Tokon has no idea when you come and go. E-mail him and get a reply, thats all you need. Coconut Palms is the best place to live there. Nice small resort that loves medical students. Staff are really friendly and Nick the manager is great and helpful. you'll meet alot of students there as well (depends on time of year). There's also lots to do there such as scuba diving (great place to learn - Nautilus diving), abseiling down waterfalls, beaches to relax on and resorts to relax at (all you have to do is buy a drink at any resort and you can relax there all day). There's also Tanna where you get to see a livee volcano and shark bay. Not to be missed.

All in all, a great place to do an elective as you get to see a lot of different things in clinics and wards. Also its a relaxation haven!!

lol it is definitely one of the most relaxing places I've ever come across, though I just went on holiday there, not work. It also got voted the happiest nation on the planet recently, though I did wonder whether kava has anything to do with that...
