Application Fees for Electives
I have a specific elective in Australia in mind and contacted the relevant consultant directly. It all looked very promising until I told that I'd have to apply through the elective application system of the local university.
The application doesn't allow me to apply to a specific elective, does not guarantee me a place and costs around £180. I don't mind paying a fee; but this seems a bit steep considering that I'd lose it if I wasn't offered a place and may have to shell out more to apply for other electives.
It all sounds very costly, but I guess that's the price I have to pay for choosing a popular location.
Does anyone have any experience or advice regarding these kind of fees?

I have applied for my elective in New Zealand and they have an administration fee aswell (even tho they only send emails!) but i didnt have to pay that fee until a place had been confirmed.
Maybe check with the university if you have to actually pay upfront or not
