hi
i m a student currently studying in my 3rd year of a 3 yrs BSc in Anatomy program at western. i am intrested in applying to med schools special mac but i wanted to know if i have any chances of getting in since i have only done 1 year of my BSc degree so far and i will be completeing my degree next year after summers.
apparently i didnt do too great this year at western (63%) and i am thinking of applying to mac this year for 2007 MD
do you think if i would have any chances of getting in to med school there with a superb essay and splendid reference letters and ofcourse volunteering and other stuff?Last edited by neelambadruddin; 27-08-2006 at 04:35 PM.

03-09-2006, 08:42 PM #2Mac looks for unusual applicants. Traditionally, they accepted any GPA >3.0 and, although their webiste still says this, those days are gone; Mac had not accepted a GPA below 3.5 (B+ to A- average) in the last two admission cycles. All is not lost: you have a long way to go in college, and many people (yours truly included!) get off to a shaky start but do fine anyway. Good luck!

would be feasible if i apply in 2008 and yet do very good about 3.5+ GPA in my last two years.
Do you think it will work? for mac or any other med schoolLast edited by Scottish Chap; 13-09-2006 at 12:35 AM.

13-09-2006, 12:36 AM #4I cannot say - the whole process is unpredictable. Unlike many other Canadian medical schools, Mac averages the grades from every single post-high school class so the last two years won't shift things too much. In the past two years, Mac's mean GPA has been around 3.81 and just 2-3 folks lay between 3.51 and 3.6. They are a highly unusualy school that accepts unusual applicants. It took my friend three attempts to gain admission and that was from the waitlsit. That was also a few years ago when accepted the GPA range was wider. My best advice: don't give up - even if that means going to the U.S. or elsewhere for your M.D. (I'm assuming you a Canuck).
