MCAT Forum

Discuss the MCAT exam in this forum. MCAT stands for "Medical College Admission Test".

Almost all US medical schools now require students to submit MCAT scores during the admissions process. The MCAT score is then taken into account by the medical college admission committees.

The MCAT is a multiple choice examination. MCAT scores are reported in Verbal Reasoning, Physical Sciences, Writing Sample and Biological Sciences.

Anyone can take the MCAT. It costs a couple of hundred U.S. dollars. You don't need a university degree. However, all U.S. medical schools require an undergraduate degree (as well at the MCAT) before they review your application and that degree should ordinarily be earned in the U.S. or Canada. I have no doubt that a good A-level student would be able to answer several of the questions in chemistry, biology, and physics, but probably not organic chemistry. Hope that helps!
