MCAT Forum

Discuss the MCAT exam in this forum. MCAT stands for "Medical College Admission Test".

Almost all US medical schools now require students to submit MCAT scores during the admissions process. The MCAT score is then taken into account by the medical college admission committees.

The MCAT is a multiple choice examination. MCAT scores are reported in Verbal Reasoning, Physical Sciences, Writing Sample and Biological Sciences.

To Take or Not to take....and reschedule

Hi there, I'm a new member to this forum and I have my MCAT looming in the near, near future: the Aug. 20th test date. I would appreciate any advice. Here are my pre-med "stats", if you will:

PA Res.
-Upcoming Junior Biochem. Major
-Cumulative GPA: 3.84 (science Higher, don't know what it is though)
-85 Hours Hospital Volunteer Service
-40+ Hours Physician Shadowing
-Coordinator of the Volunteer Medical Staff for the 2007 Keystone State Games
-Upcoming Research Opportunity with a group of sport medicine Doctors involved with College football team, this next semester

Now I took the Kaplan MCAT course this summer, and I discovered (what really, already know) that I am not the best at standardized MC tests. I average around 27-28 on the & practice tests (7) that I have taken(i have gotten a few higher scores on some Kaplan tests though). Why so low? VR, sigh....

But my question is, should I take this upcoming test, or reschedule for a later date? I want to get it over with, but I don't want to be too hasty to come to that rationalization. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK??? If you could respond by Monday it would be greatly appreciated
