MCAT Forum

Discuss the MCAT exam in this forum. MCAT stands for "Medical College Admission Test".

Almost all US medical schools now require students to submit MCAT scores during the admissions process. The MCAT score is then taken into account by the medical college admission committees.

The MCAT is a multiple choice examination. MCAT scores are reported in Verbal Reasoning, Physical Sciences, Writing Sample and Biological Sciences.

MCAT preparation,Right time to take MCAT Examination

Hi im going to explain about the sections inside Mcat examination..
Im a lecturer in Saint Kids college Seychelles, I just want to share some of the important sections in MCAT examination
Purely students has to study well in the first attempt, first attempt marks is what it counts these are the following sections in MCAT examination.
  • Physical Sciences
  • Verbal reasoning
  • Sample writing 1
  • sample writing 2
  • Biological sciences
Very importantly you need to know the TIME LIMIT for each section in an MCAT examination this information will be very vital for students appearing for the first time. Because at times knowing the time limit of each section will enable students to prepare well

What is the best way to study for the MCAT?

Hi, I am taking the MCAT for the second time in 10 yrs;I took the premed courses then and now I have to relearn just about everything. Any advice on what to study 1st? The one I find most interesting and fun or the most challenging? I really want to do well. I have always wanted to be an MD. Thank you!

While not essential, from the way you're talking, I think you'd benefit from a professional prep course where the structure is there.

Make sure you check with all the medical schools you intend to apply to about the time-frame for completing prerequisites. Some of them make you retake them after 10 years. Good luck!

Thanks Scottish Chap. I have been stressing for a while about this and I know you are right. I am not looking to go to an American school, but thought if I did well on the MCAT for the island school I am applying to, they would consider accepting me. I read a thread from another site in which the young lady was a Kaplan instructor who took the MCAT and her Physics was 11 yrs old and she got a 34 on the test and is now in medical school. You are right and I will take the premed program that is offered before the MD program; it is a year and you are automatically accepted into the MD program. Thanks for your response and enjoy your day.
