    finance question

    hi guys,
I'm originally from Scotland but have lived in England for a few years, if I relocate to Scotland for Uni do I apply to SAAS or Finance England?
Any help would be appreciated. I am planning on phoning SAAS tomorrow but would rather hear it from someone who's been through it just incase

It might be worth telling us how long you have lived in England. I believe you have to have been "oridnarily resident" in a place for 3 years to qualify for the funding. I'm probably wrong, but I'm sure the exact length of time will be important.

You'd apply to SAAS but depending on how long you've been away you might not get tuition fee funding (especially if you already hold a degree).

You always apply to the local board where you now live.

If you have have not lived in Scotland for the last three years then you are not a resident and will be stung for full fees.

Think very carefully when declaring your address history.

Sorry, I've been here for about 5 years. From what I've gathered now I apply to SAAS for maintenance loans etc but apply to England for tuition fees, which I won't be doing as I already have a degree
I did come across something that confused me though:-
"If you hold a degree for which you received support from public funds, we will not normally pay your tuition fees for a second degree. If you are commencing a degree in medicine as a second degree in Scotland in 2012-2013, you will have to pay your own tuition fees in the first four years. The tuition fee for a medicine degree in Scotland for 2012-2013 is £1,820."
This was on the SAAS website, are those numbers correct?

Sorry Frazzo was typing while you were posting. I'm very limited in my Uni choices in England due to no science or GAMSAT which is why I'm trying to find finance info for Scotland. Don't know if I can afford it, depends how the house sells, but if I can't it's fine, certainly wouldn't want to lie on my application.
So I would definately apply to England for the maintenance as well?

That rate is for Scottish domiciled, if you are not Scottish domiciled then you will be paying £9k for all five years of the degree.

When you say that you've been in Scotland for 5 years, are those 5 years post-graduation (i.e. as a permanent resident) or does that include your studies? (i.e. as a temporary resident)

A £36k ethics question? Not a bad to start to a medical degree.

Did you stay at your parents house often? ;-)

Ah Zedd, £9K it is then I lived with my parents in Scotland till 18, moved to England for Uni and stayed till I was 22, moved back to Scotland for 2 years and have now been back in England for 5 years. Regretting moving out of my parents now though
Frazzo- start the way I mean to go on haha I wish I had stayed with them but with 3 kids and a partner don't think it would be very believable.
