Here some info about London GEP universities
I posted this in the UKCAT forum, but thought it would be more useful here:
Dunno if this info helps anyone but I just got in touch with Imperial, Kings, SGUL and Barts about their UKCAT and various other things.
FYI, I got 670 average in UKCAT, 720, 650, 700, 610.
So,
Imperial:
They score individual UKCAT sections and last years cutoff for an individul section was 640. They do say however that the year before the cutoff was 600 so theres no guarantee this is going up or even staying the same. Last year might have been an abberation. Also, if you apply as a graduate to the 6 year course, you WILL have to take the intercalated year anyway. I think they said they have around 80 places for GEP.
Kings:
They score UKCAT overall and choose from the top 25%. They say under 650, pretty much no chance. Last years top 25% was 680 but again theres no info about whether its going up or down. They only have 24 places available for GEP and they pretty much told me Im better off applying for the 5 year.
SGUL:
They have the largest amount of places, about even with the undergrads (120-odd). Obviously they are a GAMSAT school so have nothing to say about the UKCAT.
Barts:
Interesting convo. They take the total score for UKCAT. Last years cutoff was 2750+ for grads but only 2550+ for undergrads. They told me that the admissions procedures for each are completely separate and applying for both would not prejudice your applications. They have 50 places for UK/EU cadidates and 24+- for international.
A UKCAT of 670 isnt the worst I know, but its not the best either, and Im just trying to maximise my hnces here.
As, like everone else, I only have 4 UCAS slots, Ive been fretting over which school and what programme to apply to. The four above will be my choices as I have to stay in London (family), but do I apply to all four, or two from one uni, a mixture of both?!?!
Any further info anyone can provide to help the decision would be massively, massively appreciated.
