2:2 with MSc
Hello,
I have been doing some research and it has come to my attention that some universities accept 2:2 with a MSc. However I am slightly confused about one thing. Say I start MSc in September 2010 do I have to complete the course or can I apply to medicine same year in early October?
Many thanks in advance.

Wonderful! I was just thinking of the same thing just now! So I emailed Kings to find out, and will let you know once I get a reply.
Could you possibly tell me which other uni's accept a 2:2 with Masters?
Thanks,2012 Entry

To be honest I don't know if many univesities would accept Msc to override a 2:2 so I am still researching on that. It is best to chose a university and email admissions office to explain your situation and see if you stand a chance, that is the advice given to me. Good luck.

Hey,
Ive been researching the same thing pretty much...I was one mark of 2.2. and so dnt have many options to even studying for MSc. ...though I knw St Georges, Uni of London accept grads with a 2.2. and an MSc but u will have to take GAMSAT in september.
Im looking to apply for a taught masters at Kings to if they allow me...what course you thinking of applying to? My other option is doing an access to medicine course though not many univerisities accept that...what would you recommend?..a yr doing an MSc or access to medicine course?
Hope I have helped

I did think about doing an access course to medicine but I live in London and the best access courses are located out of london which isn't an option as I can't afford to move out etc. So I am planning on night school to do A Levels in chemistry and biology. As for Masters, 2:2 narrows my choices and even more since my degree was in Sociology so I found a taught masters course at Kings that would accept a 2:2 and is linked to sociology which is ideal. However I need to complete A levels first so have a few years to go. But I know HYMS on their web site says they accept 2:2 with A Level grades AAA in chemistry and biology so I might apply in between if I get the grades and attempt the GAMSAT something I am dreading already
Let me know what you decide. Its gonna be hard work but not impossible so have faith and be positive.

the lady i spoke to at imperial said they would only accept a 2;2 with masters if the masters was passed with 65% or higher marks. otherwise, a 2;2 is only considered with a phd.

Hi Safis, Kings replied back to me with regards to accepting students with a 2:2 degree with Masters. I'm copying and pasting their reply to me... I hope it is of help to you - they are really nice and helpful.
"Thank you for your email and for your interest in King’s College London.
If you were to receive a 2:2 in your undergraduate degree you would need to be at least predicted a merit in a masters to be eligible to apply. You can apply to the programme with a predicted grade for your masters, should we want to make you an offer it would then be conditional on you receiving that grade.
For our graduate entry medicine programme there are 24 places, for which we receive approximately 1380 applications and invite 150 to interview. For the undergraduate programme there are 332 places, for which we receive approximately 3400 applications and invite 900 to interview.
For our undergraduate course there is no cut off point for the UKCAT. Your scores are considered in our selection for interview but are not the sole indicator for selection. Your scores will be balanced against your achievement in other areas, in particular your academic achievement to date. For the graduate programme it is usually the top 25% of UKCAT scorers that are invited to interview.
If you wanted to be considered for both courses you would have to apply for both courses via UCAS"2012 Entry
