I only contacted them on Tuesday, so i'll give it a few days yet, my query is with 'admissions' anyhow.
They do seem to be more selective, but that is probobly due to the mainland .v. NI scenario as QUB are the only place here to offer Medicine.
At the end of the day, UKCAT should be good enough to go on as the other Uni's use it.....also I would have thought that the fact I studied my BSc Part-Time while working full-time and that I am also lecturing at the minute proves commitment and ability if nothing else!

"Thank you for your email of 3 February, enquiring about admission to the Medical degree course. In considering graduate applicants, a range of factors is taken into account including performance in academic qualifications prior to commencement of degree studies. For those with a 2.1 honours degree, BBB at A-level at the first attempt would be necessary.
In view of this, unfortunately I cannot be optimistic that we would be in a position to consider your application even if you were to undertake A-levels in Chemistry and Biology. However, to allow us to assess your case fully, I should be grateful if you would provide a copy of your HND transcript giving details of results obtained in individual units and also confirm if you were ever enrolled for a third A-level subject."
?!?! Oh Dear......................

All is not lost Steve so don't give up. The light at the end of the tunnel for u is the fact u didnt enroll in a 3rd alevel!!! Their rules means that they could well give u a chance if
u complete chemistry alevel and obtain a good grade coz u need to have 3 alevels. If i were u, i'd be hopeful coz they have to apply their regulations (i.e 3 alevels and 2.1) to ur situation and at present
u have an opportunity to meet those requirements coz u only have 2!!!
Dont give up!!!
As someone once told me.....the key to success is perseverance!!
Warwick.... Interview 24th march

Steve,
Similar situation here. My current instinct is to go to the south, though, and bite the bullet and take out a scarily large loan. I lived in England for years - I even have a place in London still - but I've realised that, with family commitments etc. now, the physical separation is a bit too far. At least in Dublin I can drive up whenever I want.2nd year student, graduate entry
