This is my second time applying. I really want to get in this year. If not, like Martigan I was thinking of just applying three times, for practical reasons. But I REALLY don't want to give up on my dream, but sometime reality is going to come knocking, and I'm just going to have to accept it.

But then again I most probably will try again when I'm more mature... hehe. I'm very stubborn and don't like to give up
*Ding Ding* Time for my second round...

I know, it's difficult because you have to think of other people other than yourself, like other halves, children etc.

It will hurt to give up. It's been my life for the past year. But I'm investing a lot of emotional energy in the application process. Like unrequented love there has to be a point where you have to accept your loss and protect your heart by stopping trying, as the rejection is more damaging than the absence.
3 tries will be four years of emotional turmoil, so I would probably have to give up by then, for my own well being.

This is my third time applying. First time applying to medschools in UK but 3rd time altogether.
1st try was right in high school, and failed. Second try was mid-Bachelor's degree, and failed. It's tough here in Finland, one entrance exam and you can apply to one single medicine program in the country and that's it (nothing else matters, they don't assess your personality/motivation in any way).
This time, I've already been rejected from 2 schools, Cambridge dunno why but not surprised, and St.Georges because I missed the GAMSAT mark by 0.75. Somehow I've started to feel that I'm not even getting that tiny chance. Losing hope minute by minute. Even getting just an interview offer would at least tell me that someone in the universe thought I was worthy of getting a chance, if not an offer.
The first two tries here were devastating, especially the second one. (First time round I forgot the pain after summer when uni began elsewhere). I don't think I will take this round very well.
Sometimes it even feels like everything is pointing that I shouldn't pursue this anymore, my brain says that too, but it's the typical struggle between heart and brain. I'm doing so well in my studies, and getting great opportunities and could be well off and successful and what not. But. But, I want to be a doctor. Some people have trouble figuring out what they want to be in life even a decade after growing up. I almost wish I didn't know.Last edited by nabbe; 18-12-2009 at 07:33 PM.

Hi,
I was not ready for GAMSAT 2009 - did not sit it. There were a number of reasons for this, including gaining a senior nursing position (i.e. promotion!). I transferred the 2009 test to 2010. I can now spend this year going over GAMSAT revision again...
So, that's 2 years of my life - although 2010 will be my first application.
I don't want to think about NOT getting in.

Have you thought about taking the Gamsat Australia test in March in London? I think it is the first time that the March test has been available in the UK. You'd have the results before you apply and can always take it again in September if you need / want to improve on your score.

Like several others on this thread, I will try a total of three times, I think, this is my second.
Next year, I will also apply to an allied health professional degree such as midwifery or diagnostic imaging. Really *really* want to be a doctor though so fingers crossed.
Cheers

I'm still pretty positive about this time (2nd attempt) but if I don't make it I will just keep trying because I am just too stupid and too stubborn to know when to give up
2010 Entry:
