Thread: Any matures with interviews?

28-11-2009, 01:37 AM #21Or, "I don't write shitty personal statements..."Did you remember to start your personal statement with "If there's anything that being a national celebrity has taught me..."? That would surely have scored you some brownie points
Got an email from Queens about an interview today!
Do you mind saying what your UKCAT score was?Yep I got an interview for Newcastle GEP today tooGlasgow Medic, 2010-2015

Similar to yours; VR 700, QR 710, AR 710, DA 690 overall average 702.5
<rant> It annoys me so much that so many Universities seem to hold the UKCAT in such high regard and allow it to play such a prominent role in the selection process. It would be fine if you had like 2 hours per section as the questions themselves aren't difficult, but given the fact that the time is so short, it means that 50% of the score is based on random luck. </rant>
Congratulations on the Queens interview
Is that the first?

28-11-2009, 06:22 AM #23I totally agree. I can't help but think that it's just a more elaborate form of lottery.<rant> It annoys me so much that so many Universities seem to hold the UKCAT in such high regard and allow it to play such a prominent role in the selection process. What time is yours at Chwirky? Mine's at 11.30. Could have done with just being slightly later in the day so I didn't have to stay over really. Not that I'm complaining though, just happy to get one!
2010 Entry:
Newcastle GEP - one year down, three to go!
UKCAT - 692.5 average
Degree: 1st in Biomedical Science

Mine's at 2:30 in the afternoon, although I'm going to try to be there for 1pm to get a tour of the facility.
I'm going to be staying over anyway, and probably remain for a few days. I did my undergraduate degree at Durham University (which is very close to Newcastle) and I still have a few friends there so I'm going to take the opportunity to spend some time with them while I'm up north.
