    Hi Martigan,

I've not finalised my choices yet. Southampton is ideal, because I live in the general area and would mean we could avoid uprooting home. But I wonder how mature-friendly Soton really is (no stats to back up my doubts, only a threadbare passing comment from someone who works at the university.) Bristol, most likely. As for the other two, I need to do some more research (e.g. places available, etc.) to make sure I'm maximising my chances.

A task for the next few days!

    Lol - You’re cutting it fine... :-)

If you live in the Hampshire area you may well me eligible for an extra bursary at Southampton for local students.

They have 40 places on the BM4 course, with about 1200 aplicants for those places.

I don't know anything about Bristol.

FWIW, my own experiences of (and experiences of matures I know at) Bristol are that admissions aren't spectacularly mature-friendly/aware but once you're in, they're very good and very supportive.

    Cheers

Thanks for that, Vicky and Martigan! Every little.... Knew Southampton had a high applaces ratio, but as it is geographically close, still may give it a go. Trouble with them is that they are so reluctant to give out any information! (I have U.S. qualifications and have only received vague and noncommital approval of them from their admin office.) I have heard too that Bristol is mature-friendly, but, as you say Vicky, that may be primarily reserved for those who've made it onto the course. I'm also probably unduly influenced by the response of admissions tutors; when I find one that responds positively, promptly or with concrete information, I'm buoyed, which means Durham is probably on the list too.

Will definitely get in touch Latestarter- I do have questions about Soton!

Hi HShep, Vicky, Martigan, Amelle and other fellow-oldies applying this year!

I haven't finalised my choices yet either as it depends what I get in my UKCAT which I'm taking on Tuesday (scary!) I can't quite get the speed needed at the moment, especially in QR, so I'm a bit nervous!

Meanwhile, as I was writing my (hopefully) final PS draft on Monday, I felt this strange dizzy sensation with my bed swaying from side-to-side. I wondered whether I was finally losing it with so many hours of staring at my laptop. I later discovered it was an earthquake in which several people died. That put my application into perspective a bit!!
