Oldies for 2010

Yes LBL was referring to lecture-based-learning i.e. more traditional teaching methods. I thought I'd heard it somewhere but maybe I just made it up! In which case I'm happy to have coined it.

I understand that each course is unique to each institution but (roughly speaking) looking at the 16 schools that offer a GEP course, which would you describe as LBL and which as PBL?

Are you all sorted with UKCAT and ucas form? Im just trying to edit the PS and waiting for reference to arrive.. then thats it!

Well, good luck to you. I've left everything to the last minute as I've been busy starting my Masters course (!!!). Crazy times. I'm just putting the finishing touches on my personal statement and then will send out the UCAS form by Monday. I sit the UKCAT next Thursday. I've got the 600 UKCAT practice questions book that comes highly recommended (well, on Amazon and on here).

Newcastle GEP deadline is October 15.

Have you had a look at this? I've found it really helpful although the person who came up with it apparently hasn't updated since 2007.

Hey all!

I too am an "oldie" applying for medicine this year. I'm 25 with a BSc in Music Technology and an MA in Sonic Arts.
I'm studying A Level Chemistry and Biology this year having already done Maths (A), Further Maths (B), Physics (A) and Chemistry (B) when I was at school 7 years ago.

I'm from N. Ireland and I'm applying for:

1) Glasgow
2) Newcastle (maybe the GEP)
3) Aberdeen
4) Liverpool

My UCAS is pretty much ready to go. I've written and re-written my personal statement many times (it's so hard to fit everything in!), but I'm fairly confident I've finally got it reading the way I want it too.

Are you referring to Newcastle GEP? I was under the impression that they use the UKCAT score to cut down the initial amount of applicants and that the cut-off was considerably higher than 600...

Did not someone commented that they set a given cut-off and eliminate all applications below that, considering the whole application only to those above it?

Bear in mind that I may be wrong!
