Taking a year off between 3rd and 4th yr?
I am expecting my third baby in 2 weeks time. I have just finished my third year at Nottingham and was planning on going back at the end of September to start my 4th year. However, I'm now thinking this is maybe not a good idea and therefore take a year off instead. My question is, how will this effect the funding I receive from my LEA. I understand that if I was to take a year off, then the funding I would have received this year would not go ahead. Will I still be entitled to this next year after being reassessed? I am just scared that my LEA may turn around and say I won't be entitled to any help if I am to take a year off?
I would be grateful for any advice!

You shouldn't have any problems with it, there have been quite a few 'intercalated' babies at King's and the mums haven't mentioned any unique problems with funding, just the general how rubbish the LEA etc are.
It's a shame you're not on the bursary already as you'd get maternity pay!
I think you're probably wise to take some time with the baby, medical school will always be there but this baby won't stay a baby for long.
Good luck with everything!

I returned to work when my son was 10 weeks old but am glad I don't have that desicion to make again!
If finances allow, I would take the year out... I'm sure LEAs are used to people taking a year out?
Offcially, you are entitled to length of course plus 1 year of student finance.

You are right, they don't stay babies for long and she will only be around 3 months old when I go back which is very young.
