Loans for graduates on undergrad course???

    Please Help,

I've been trying for a while now to find out about and apply for student loans. Websites and other people have said as a postgraduate on an undergraduate medical degree I can get just a maintenance loan but when I spoke to someone at student loans direct they said as a second undergrad degree I'm not entitled to anything, and were quite frankly rude! Does anyone have any other suggestions?

    Thanks

You're entitled to another maintenance loan, but no loan to cover tuition fees, unfortunately.

There's nothing to stop you taking out a private loan with a bank to cover tuition fees, and some even have special arrangements for exactly this e.g. 0% interest while you study etc.

Natwest is an option, albeit very expensive, so use your money carefully. Also, a student overdraft is a second option.

To be honest you should register on the student loan website and go through the application process, it self calculates as far as i can tell so it will take your circumstances in to account, and like Kotoreru said you should end up with a maintenance loan.

if you need help with fees you might want to speak to the graduate loans manager at NATWEST in Cambridge when i spoke to her she had a lot of good advice heres the number Cambridge 01223 353711

    Hey all,

I've just received a letter from the student loans company saying I'm ineligible for a loan from them as its my second degree.

I'll be ringing them tomorrow to discuss it with them but as other people have said they do seem very rude and unhelpful.

Has anyone who already has a degree applied for the maintainance loan and got it approved this year??

Quite worried about how I will be able to afford to live without a maintainance loan (although I do have money put aside for my tuition fees)
Aberdeen - 5 year = CONDITIONAL OFFER (75% IN CHEMISTRY IN SUMMER SCHOOL)
    UEA - 5 year = Rejection
    Newcastle - 4 year = Rejection
    Leicester - 4 year = Rejection

    UKCAT - 670 av

Best bet is just to go round them. Do it online. You're certainly eligible for the maintenance loan - Medicine and Dentistry (and Vet?) are exceptions to the general rule.

I was under the impression that you are not eligible for a CDL if you are getting a maintenance loan.

Have a look at the link i put up a few posts ago, there are some criteria but its worth talking to them directly. give them a call, and explain that you cant get funding for the course fees from any other source and see what they say.
