Average Total Costs of Medical School
I am trying to work out a rough idea of what medical school is going to cost me on a yearly basis (average) excluding the tuition fees. I am interested in Nottingham, St Georges and Peninsula, so if any of you are at these medical schools it would be good to hear from you.
Roughly how much each year do the following cost:-
Accommodation (including bills if off campus)
General Living Expenses
Costs for Course ie Books/Equipment
With regards to the accommodation - do most places have all inclusive rents now ie include electricity? or do they still have rent per week (including water) and then you pay for electricity etc? Roughly how much do you spend on electricity bills etc?
Thanks for all your help!
PS: These forums seem quieter than they used to be, where is everyone hiding?

I came up with a scary minimum of £7000 a year. Somehow it just didn't seem right but apparently that's what I was making my way through even with the old fees scale. And that was a history degree...

I would think double that, especially if you are in London!
I was thinking I need £12,000 an academic year.

Yep, I agree. I'm prob going to George's and I have a daughter so need a 2 bed flat, which will cost approx £10k alone. With bills, food, travel on top (not to mention books and course-related stuff!), I think I need £20k per annum minimum.
