yes i agree that medics in this country in comparison to other high flying professions are not paid as well matched against them ones you have mentioned, however the wages still are not bad. Money is the main factor for some but yes not all. I think the consultant was pointing out to me that the money will be a bonus in comparison to what i would get paid as a nurse for the rest of my life! Im not sure if ive made sense there

P.S i agree that its important to be in a career where you get satisfaction no matter how much you get paid but not everyone feels this way!

i never sed they wud; u mentioned money in the form of a mortgage. im talking purely bout jobs and job roles. and i mentioned late teens with a mortgage as u sed medics wud be unlikely to give up a well paid job to earn less as a nurse. but i wasnt talking bout 30 yr old consultant doctors, i was on about medical students

on your second point, ok sorri, domi, if its purely from a student angle then that discludes my opinion for starters.

what i can say is that i dont fink the traditional teenage med student will 'ave the perception of the nussing role to mek an accurate judgement on whether they will want to do it or not.
i fink we are seeing a new wave of teen med students coming in wif more depth, but i would disculde most of the medics in my med skool from that catergory - this place is far too trad for that. Other med skools i cant accurately comment on.
