Loans for grads...
Hello,
had a quick look but couldn't see another thread with this topic so sorry if this has been answered somewhere else...
I'm due to start a 5 medicine degree at manchester in sept 2008 but as it's a second degree i'm obviously not entitled to a tuition fee loan.
i've spoken to a few advisors from learndirect etc and they said that there aren't really any other options to cover this. had a look at career development loans but they only allow you to borrow £8000 max over a two year period (not enough to cover the first 4 years of med school!)
i was just wondering if any one had any advice on where to try next?! there must be loads of people in the same position and i can't believe there aren't any other loans to help cover this!
any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated
thanks!
kate.

Hi Kate
Your best option (in fact ONLY option as far as I know....) is a Professional Studies Loan. There's loads of stuff on this already - just do a search for PSL. In a nutshell, they are offered by some banks (such as HSBC, Natwest and Barclays) and you can apply for up to 25K and you don't start repayments till you graduate.
I've not actually had any luck getting one myself but I know of many people who have!3rd Year Manchester Medic
