anyone with a 2ii who didn't do GAMSAT been offered an interview or been rejected?

I've got the hated 2ii and didn't have time to do the GAMSAT when I decided to go for it. Be interested in hearing from anyone who is in a similar boat and has heard anything positive.

I've applied to Cardiff, BSMS, Leicester and Kings GEP (well you never know).

yeah that is their official line but with additional qualifications for mature graduates they will consider 2,2s. Well at least BSMS and Cardiff and Leicester will Kings less so.

    I'm still not hopeful

I'm not sure. I graduated in 1995 and then qualified as a chartered accountant so have a fair bit of other stuff under my belt to show that I'm more diligent and hard working than I was as a student.

Probably will make no difference but have to give it a go

If you phoned the institutions up and asked specifically if you could apply with your 2:2 and they said it's ok, then I don't see why not. It won't guarantee you an interview, but there are a very small minority who get into unis that normally don't consider 2:2s this way. But you had better be very strong in other areas that they require of you.

    Extra info for interested readers:

Kings will consider 2:2s combined with a MSc (with merit)/PhD

York (who used to be 2:2 friendly!) will now only consider a 2:2 combined with a PhD (personally, I don't think it's worth it!).

Best bet is gamsat for PMS, SGUL and notts. For those with 3rds, PMS is the only hope, but it has been done. Everyone else is not particularly 2:2 friendly. Birmingham is not even 2:1 friendly; they only in practice interview people with 1sts.

Medicine is getting tougher each year and I am so sure there'll be a time even when Kings, Notts and SGUL up the stakes to 2:1s, and PMS to 2:2s. I also think other institutions will follow in Brum's footsteps and will only interview 1st class candidates.

Kings and BSMS say on their sites that they will accept a 2.2 with Access to Medicine. UEA say on their website they accept a 3rd or even Pass!!! with A2M regardless of prior study, could be worth a look

It is definately getting tougher. Liverpool upped their requirements to a 2i with minimum 65% and will only accept applicants who have already graduated. I've heard on the grape-vine that Manchester are considering the same 65% rule - would have ruled me out.
