At Liverpool, 1st year is not worth anything. 2nd year 30% and final year 70%.

Is it just me or is anyone else wondering how come people don't even know how their own degree is marked???? You will have been told, many times in fact! It will be in information booklets you have been given! How can you expect to get into med school when you can't even manage to find out basic things like that for yourself? Fair enough if you aren't at uni yet but for those of you that are and still don't know I suggest you don't apply anywhere that does PBL! You will never survive!

Harsh Bambi. I found these stats interesting as I've applied for back-up choices and I'm assuming that others asking haven't got as far actually being ON the degree but wanting to make an early start at gathering information. If they are on the degree already and their tutors haven't properly explained things then they ARE finding these things out for themselves by asking here!

It's not harsh at all. Some of those that have posted already are doing degrees. Every university will have explained it to their students, more than once and it will be in booklets that everyone will have been given, that is how it works! Asking on here is not finding out! Each uni varies on how much each year counts so asking on here is useless, it even varies between departments in the same uni.

Yeah, I agree with you Bambi. It's usually drilled into you how much everything is worth, and every booklet/handbook we get always explains it to us! Very true that also all unis differ in how they determine youir classification.

well to defend myself, i am doing the ordinary degree that is not graded until i top it up to an hons so no i have not got the info from my uni. i really cant see why so many people are so quick to jump down and be harsh. its no need for it, we are all suppose to want to go into a caring profession. Make it simple for yourself if someones post bugg u, dont reply, go and read something els!
moving on- thanks for that clarification, i was sort of on the line that it was based on 3rd yrs grade.
    cheers

Here they take 40% of the average year 2 score and 60% of the year 3 score to find your final score for degree classification purposes.

Yeah nursing is slightly different but for general science degrees and most other degrees in fact it is drilled in you and people shouldn't be asking questions like that, it's ridiculous. A caring attitude isn't the only thing needed for med school you know a bit of intelligence and common sense are just as important!
