Quick Question that I'm hoping that someone here may be able to answer. I did GAMSAT last year and I'm not planning on taking it again this year - I'm just planning to use the score obtained in 2005 (and in so doing, saving myself a couple of hundred quid, a dodgy cheese sarny and some vacation time). Do I have to contact Unis/UCAS to ask them to use my old score and if so who do I contact? I don't want to lose out on a potential interview because they think that I haven't done the relevant exam!
The simplest thing is probably to send your universities a copy of your GAMSAT results certificate - you just need to make sure that you give them you UCAS number. All my application universities were willing to receive stuff like that - I had to send them proof of the fact that my 2nd was unclassified because my original uni hadn't split results into 2:1 and 2:2s.
The best thing would be to call up UCAS and ask to speak to the bloke who deals with GAMSAT - his name is Ian something or other and he is very helpful and will tell you exactly what you need to do.

I had the same concerns during the autumn. I got this years GAMSATers to verify that Ian Fenny was still the contact @ UCAS. I then e-mailed him to ask how the system works. He informed me that when this years GAMSAT results come out (late Feb) UCAS will automatically send our results from last year to the unis we applied to.
Out of interest, what was your GAMSAT score? Pm me if you like.
Thanks for all the advice - Jiny's idea of photocopying the result and sending it to the Unis sounds fab, except that I left the form at home in England when I came back for a SGHMS interview last year, so don't have it to hand. I've e-mailed the UCAS/GAMSAT people with the query - it's a bit early on to get a reply and I imagine that they are completely bogged down with 2006 GAMSAT, so we'll see. I found Ian Fenney (?) to be extremely helpful with some queries that I had last year (including a last minute panic on trying to get a cheque from Miami to UCAS in less than a week to make the deadline!), so I hoping that this will be the case again - the only problem being that I had to send the e-mail to a generalised address on the ACER/UCAS website - I couldn't find individual e-mail addresses and this always makes me a little worried that the mail will get lost somewhere!
At the moment feeling a little in the doldrums due to the lack of interview offers when others seem to be getting aplenty and I haven't dared to look at UCAS track this year so far in case there are any rejections - my mum is remaining positive (she is staying with me at the moment) and trips up to the Blue Springs National Park, the Kennedy Space Center and the Everglades were accompanied by 5 hours of non-stop interview questions!
Captainkirk - will PM you the score - 'twas credible but not brilliant and hopefully enough to get beyond the cut-off score at Nottingham, but it is a gamble.
Just in case any others are in the same situation as me. I got a reply from Ian Fenney to say that he would use my e-mail asking about my previous GAMSAT score as an authorisation to submit my previous year's score to Nottingham and Swansea (2 Unis that I'm applying to that require GAMSAT). It seems from this that you might need to ask them to use a previous score and that it may not be automatic, but in any case, the advice given on this forum was good stuff - ask if you don't know!!!
Thanx for that info. slightly different from the e-mail I have kept from Ian Fenny sometime last autumn. I intend to e-mail him today and give him my autorisation as well, see if it helps any.
Yes I am hoping that too but it seems unlikely, although you're right possibly a lot of the people who land offers will end up declining.
I need to know soon as I will be arranging new plans for...
Argh! I was hoping it would be sooner as I don't really want my Barts interview and I know they have a waiting list, so would rather give it to someone else if I got a place at Soton. Seems like a...
No I agree, in mine it was the female interviewer who really seemed to look down on my experience and tried to show it in a negative light. I guess you're right it may have been to stress us but it...
