Applying for Graduate Medicine- help!!

Hi everyone!

I'd really appreciate some advice from anyone who's applied to study medicine as a graduate. On your UCAS form, did you put all the module titles and marks that you received in your first two years? My tutor advised me that this was a good idea so that the unis know I'm a graduate applicant. While I see this point, would it be better to put my average marks for each year in the qualifications section? (is this possible? or necessary?)
My application is all set apart from this point... well almost....
I have picked Liverpool, Warwick, Oxford (4 years) and Sheffield (5 years). Is this sensible? And also does anyone know if you have to send of the additional set of forms to Oxford before you send of your UCAS form???
Finally, instead of Shefield, I was thinking of applying to King's, or Newcastle as I've heard that they consider 4 year applicants for their 5 year courses. Do people think I'm best of sticking with Sheffield???

Any (rapid) advice will be warmly greeted!!!

Thanks,
macange

Thumbs up

Hi,
I hadn't thought about the fact that they wouldn't be able to tell that im a graduate, hmm But wouldn't the unis be able to tell from you reference, i mean surely it says what you were like at "uni" and also it will predict you your "degree" class and things like that. So i think they'll see straight away from your reference that your a Grad applicant.
But putting down you module results from years 1+2 will only show the unis how good you are so can't do any harm at all

Plus people like me who's average are just under the 2:1 level in the 1st+2nd years wont be putting it down and therefore you will stand out more,
Good luck,

To be honest, from my experience I think the uni's will be interested only in your predicated grade - backed up hopefully via your tutor reference who could if warranted mention your average yearly marks. Moreover I doubt you'll have enough room to fit them in!
Secondly I think the general concensus is not to apply to four 4 year degree programmes. Another noteworthy point which i'm sure you will have noted is the different teaching styles offered by the uni's you have mentioned i.e. PBL vs more traditional teaching methodsVs other types of small group teaching.

In short I'd pick at least one 5 year degree course - with a structure that suits your method of learning

Regards
D

Rapid advice: Do not apply to Newcastle GEP. They have no entrance exam or degree restrictions so are -very- hotly applied for.

I would also consider applying to 2x 4 years and 2x 5 years - the GEP courses are very competitive.

Hey I've just spoken to the Admissions people at Aberdeen, they don't want to know the grades of individual modules- just the predicted degree mark.
