I believe HSBC charge £100 to change the amount you borrow??

Sorry i can't be any help but i do understand your predicament with HSBC, hope you manage to sort it out without too much heartache
Cheers for the sympathies jonesy. Glad you managed to escape to Barclays, I'll be paying them a visit tomorrow. Can't believe your treatment with HSBC. They also mentioned an arrangement fee to me but sneakily managed to avoid telling me how much. Don't know about that £100 charge...wouldn't surprise me they'd slap that on top as well.

    Outrageous!

If you are already on a course, you will not be affected by top up fees, so your tuition fees should remain at ~£1200

hey its defo a good thing we didn't get Owen, don't think Rafa was too keen and felt pressured to take the traitor on Anyway, I did actually want Owen back, Cisse and Mori aren't doing it for me, but after yesterday, I think Owen is too greedy and selfish for liverpool. Sorry for the rant!

Anyway, catch22 I got a PSL with barclays, if i got a CDL I wouldn't be able to get the student loan as well. Barclays don't ask for anything apart from a simple budget planner and that you change your student a/c to Barclays.

I have just signed up with HSBC for a PSL and to be honest it didn't bother me about the life insurance thing. I can understand them wanting to protect their money and after all they don't stipulate that you have to take the insurance out with them - that would definitely be scandalous!

I own a house too jonesy, as I guess quite a few matures do, but they didn't suggest I secure it against the house. Basically I'm hoping that by the time I graduate there will be enough equity in the house for me to re-mortgage and pay the PSL off even before the payments start to kick in.

yeah that was similar to me - i got the option though of whether i wanted to secure it against my flat or not, i went for not, the difference in repayments were about a fiver a month, but i felt better not attaching it to my flat - not if u don't need to
