Clearing places for Med?
Hi,
Just wondering what the chances are of matures gaining a clearing place for medicine?
I understand that the popular belief is that there are 'no' clearing places at all for medicine.. but i have read elsewhere that there is a possibility?
I've just graduated from an arts subject and got rejected from all four places this year. I recently looked at foundation courses, any idea on what the clearing situation is likely to be for them?
Anyone got into medicine from clearing?
Many thanks, Look forward to hearing from you all!

It's near enough like winning the lottery if you can get a place through clearing.

I think the lack of replies to your post speaks volumes.
I don't think there will be any chance, and given the ever increasing A level pass rates and A grades attained, med schools biggest problems are going to be avoiding giving out too many offers and ending up with too many students.
In fact this is beginning to happen quite often now and will effect the following years intake as people are asked/bribed to defer for a year.

I just contacted King's and they said for the past 4/5 years (atleast!), they have not had any clearing places and are extremely unlikely this year! OUCH! 2006 (hopefully for me then..)

I'm so angry with Cardiff!
I tried for a clearing place, they made me email over a personal statement and CV, then they rejected me because of my GCSEs, which i took more than 5 years ago!!!! I've got an undergraduate degree (2.1) for god's sake! Talk about giving people false hope! So unfair!
