...and supposing there were 30 places on the course that would make 45000 applicants for the King's GEP alone.

Stat attack!
Statstics will also tell you that your best chances of being made an offer co-incide with being a 17-year old schoolgirl... which is something I can't do a lot about.

You could always forge your birth certificate, and have gender reassignment surgery if necessary?

I appreciate the input, Spence, but that's not an avenue that I'll be looking into.

... plus, if I were ever to see myself with fledgling breasts, apple cheeks and pigtails, it would damage me emotionally. I would never recover.

The very thought of it is rank. I need to take a shower.

All right, all right, calm down, it was just a suggestion.

Too much protesting by far - you've already booked for your appointment, I'm guessing

Hi,
My strategy was, apply to all four London and then I couldn't be disappointed with location if I were only to get one offer! Plus, I'm from the Lake District so it was a little bit of 'Dick Whittington' syndrome!
I applied to three grad and one undergrad (my background is 6A*, 3A at GCSE, 4As at A-level in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and General Studies, 1st in BSc Psychology from University of Nottingham. Only two weeks medical work experience at Barts but loads of extra-curricular volunteering/organisation type stuff at uni (including students' union sabbatical position) and a gap year teaching english in Hong Kong). I was confident that I'd get an offer on an undergrad course but felt was really unsure of grad principally due to the applicants/place.
Also, I applied for uni's where there was an examination selection process - then if I didn't make the grade I knew (personally) it would be down to my own doing rather than a subjective assessment of my personal statement. Plus, my work experience was low in volume and felt I would struggle to get to interview with the limited amount I had.
After that I looked at the structure of the course, the facilities, future job prospects, etc, etc.
Hope this is of some use,
Ruth
