There you are then, you're set!
A doctor I met through a voluntary placement I hold, who judges ucas forms and does other such evil stuff at Leeds, when I told him I was worried about having to reapply after 4 rejections, said that for people who have "spare time" on their hands before medicine, a good idea is to get a job in a hospital or GP surgery environment. Experience and money! A&E front desk, portering, reception, hospital radio going round and showing people how the system works.... the list is endless. Basically, get in there with ANYTHING remotely care related and start reading some scientific journals and thinking about how you're going to get the phrase "deep seated desire to study medicine" into the personal statement
All the best mateMedicine is the only career with a 100% fail rate - you spend years reviewing people in clinic, readmitting them, tweaking their inhalers, prolonging their dying process.
I want to do something useful with my life, like Orthopaedics.

Great work, Blooberry. I would like to be in your position, with the necessary qualifications already under my belt. I have more to do before I can apply to medical school.
