Accomodation at Manchester
I was just wondering whether anyone was going to the accomodation open day this Sunday? It says there's 23 halls of residences and I have no idea which ones to visit!!
So I guess my question is are there certain residences that medical students tend to go for or does everyone choose randomnly? And how do you go about this? I'm a bit worried about choosing somewhere and ending up living with nobody else who does medicine! Do any current students have any advice about which accomodation is good, or even which campus or area to look at?
Thanks for any help, Im completely lost with all of this

Don't worry about how many medics will be in your hall - you're guarenteed to have at least a few. You'll meet loads of medics in your PBL groups etc anyway, so you really don't need to pick a hall based on that.
Go for Fallowfield, it's the best location in my oppinion.Manchester medic - 3rd year

I was looking at Fallowfield, is it near enough to the medical building? I've tried to look this up but can't seem to find it! Are the majority of classes in the same building? And if you don't mind me asking, why do you think fallowfield is the best location? Thanks so much for your help

Pretty much all your lectures and other teaching in preclinicals is in Stopford building on Oxford Rd. Fallowfields is 10 minutes bus ride down. Plenty of halls to choose from over there: Our Accommodation - Fallowfield Campus (Accommodation)
If distance from medical school is most important factor then Whitworth park halls are your best bet-just accross the road. Our Accommodation - Whitworth Park (Accommodation)Manchester final year.

Fallowfield is the most lively and popular. I think Whitworth Park (the hall across the road from the med school) is grim, but a lot of people seem to like it. Being a 10 minute bus ride/20 minute walk from uni wasn't an issue for me, so Fallowfield was the only place I wanted to live.
