Royal Blackburn Hospital

Is Blackburn a teaching hospital for Manchester? If so how is it in terms of teaching and facilities. Any FY1 or other doctors there?

Bambi, have u been to preston hospital? If so what did you think of Blackburn in comparrison to Preston?

If anyone else has experienced both hospitals i would appreciate their input. I know preston is a fantastic hospital. Ive heard good things abt blackburn too, however i heard a couple of years ago how the only problem was that its facilities were not as good as Prestons. Can anyone shed any upto date light on this?

Cheers everyone.

Blackburn has been very bad for skills teaching for 4th yr, this might be sorted out for forthcoming years. because we made such a hoohar indeed it was so bad they were going to arrange coaches for us to go to preston for skills but alas it never happened. Ive had no formal teaching for any obs and gynae skills and very few paeds skills. in paeds you spend a different week on a different ward eg one week on admissions one in clinic one in neonatal care and everyone at Bbn agrees it doesnt give you the chance to properly get your hands stuck in. Meh. apparently very good DGHfor Fy1 and 2. 3rd year is good from what i heard and you get free accom in Bbn or Burnley
