its not really about how much different work experiences you have under your belt, its just about what u have learnerd or think you have loearned form each experience or what u have gained from it personally.

Yup, they prioritise their MAP people. A few I know got interviews within days of sending their UCAS forms off. So looks like abit of a long wait for the rest of us...

I did get my confirmation email soon after sending my UCAS though, only just noticed the email yesterday so up until then I thought I hadn't heard anything from Manchester.

its the Manchester Access Programme... for some selected people i thnk...applying to manchester universsity.... you need to fit some criteria's to be part of the programme and its benefitial in the aspect that the applicants get to see if they will get an interview for the course they are applying for like medicine before sending off their ucas

MAP is a programme for ppl who live in manchester and have parents who have not been to university and are in receipt of EMA. You need to complete an assignment and pass it. if you have the required grades at gcse and the right predictions for A2 you are pretty much guaranteed an interview for medicine or dentistry. if u pass the interview you get an offer of lower grades for that course. e.g. for medicine the standard offer would be BBB instead of AAB.

Yup. Groups of 8 where you're given a topic to discuss, something like "Should obese people be given knee replacements?" Well I think that's the one we were given as an example when we were told about it. Then its individual interviews with a panel of 3. Looking forward to it already, thats if I get an interview...

There are certain criteria you have to meet but I living in Manchester isn't one. Maybe living in the North West/Greater Manchester, but definitely not in Manchester itself. I didn't qualify to go on it, but I don't think I would've wanted to because there is alot they make you do throughout the summer aswell and I wouldn't be able to handle it along with college in general plus work. Guess its worth it though in the long run but oh well...
