Well the OSCE was interesting. I didn't think it was too bad, but it's impossible to tell because a lot of it is based on paper work. We'll see.
LOCAS tomorrow and thursday.

Argh, 3rd yr results tomorrow! :S Not hopeful, esp with paper 3 and OSCE.
In other news I saw a bus load of students arrive for LOCAS at Blackpool Vic this morning. Hope it went well for everyone! The consultant I'm attached to at the mo for my elective is examining tomorrow afternoon. Do you have 2 full days, how does it work - does everyone see the same patients?BSc Hons Pharmacology 2004-2007

Good luck for your results! I'm sure things have gone better than you think!
It's about 1 and a half hours - 6 stations of 14 minutes each. At Whiston today there were three circuits of 6 students each, so each group of 6 saw the same patients as eachother.
I actually quite enjoyed it!Dr. Batman SHO

i feel a bit dirty saying it, but i really quite enjoyed locas today! its amazing how much help those 2mins prep before each station are. examining and actually finding things is a bit of a novelty. lovely mitral regurg, and a rather spiffing pulmonary fibrosis . abdo exam was a bit rubbish, ran out of time before i could examine the parastoma hernia, then got a bit messed up in the summarising and forgot to mention the hernia..., and then said it was a colostomy rather than an iliostomy and had to backtrack massively. but i think he kinda knew i knew what i was talking about but had just got a bit flustered. initial abdo exam was fine as well, so hopefully that'll be enough. the histories are a bit more challenging than i had anticipated in terms of time, probably should have concentrated on them a little more in retrospect. and surface anatomy of the hip? jeeeshhh... poor guy tried to drag that out of me - just wasn't going to happen.
we shall see what tomorrow holds in store. good luck all..."The art of medicine consists in amusing the patient while nature cures the disease."

well done bet ur relieved exams are over : )
i'm so relieved 3rd year results are out and I passed everything.....so much better than the 2 resits like last year!
does anyone know if it the osce mark is still 85 or 55 or will it be 55/65/75/85 like the other exams as the osce marking changed so I was wondering whether I got 85 or just same as last year passed rather than failed?!

A friend of mine has just told me the summative 2nd year OSCE today was horrendous and 50 times worse than the formative. Now I'm scared cos I failed the formative! Any suggestions gratefully received. Is it a case of knowing the booklets from 1st year inside out plus extra stuff we picked up in hospital this year?

Our 2nd year summatives just involved knowing what was in the books, nothing more and nothing less. It was actually kind of fun once you relaxed and settled in to it. Kind of. Not properly fun obviously. Am not psycho.
Anyway 3rd year results revealed a totally shocking pass of everything. Delighted. Summer is saved!
Well done to all the 4th years for finishing.
