Here we go again, formative time.
For some reason, the formatives this time don't hold as much excitement as they did in second year.
I don't know why. But let's see what the facutly can come up with for third year. I look forward to not being able to answer 40% of the questions by default. The world had a hierarchy before I was born and I absolutely despise it.

Okay, that's over at least....until paper 1 which is tomorrow.
Paper 3 was pretty good although the deafness questions were really pretty....stupid to be honest. As for the Paeds questions, holy crap. That was intense. I thought something standard would come up and they go ahead and use preterm infant and infectious diseases with a rash. Completely unexpected.
The psychiatry was laid out quite nicely, anyone could've made the diagnosis. The Gyne questions were ok and theraputics had.....amiadarone! That thing seems to pop up in every exam.
Paper 2 was odd with loads of questions on PGD, abortion and consent. Literally, it should've been called " Consent: guest starring the Munchkins". Anyways, I'm babbling now.
Sorry if I annoyed anyone today, I was the one who kept sneezing and coughing like crazy. I think the students in Lecture halls 2 and 3 heard me.
I'm gonna go and sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep, hopefully I'll wake up refreashed for paper 1 and the feedback session. The world had a hierarchy before I was born and I absolutely despise it.

Paper 1, as usual, was completely random.
The neuro questions bothered me the most though. You had to REALLY put an effort to "localise" the lesions. Even though not all answers were "lesions". *Sigh*
Overall, I think that went by well. Gotta start plotting for revision now.The world had a hierarchy before I was born and I absolutely despise it.

no, i quite like it as well. it's one of those things like blood gases, that once you get, you really get, if you get me... quite satisfying when it makes sense. unlike this post...

The Pad rules! It dispells the evil myths that circulate within the walls of our Medical School.
-Just because a case is in the formative exam doesn't mean the summative won't have it. It can happen but they'll ask you different stuff.
-Cases which appear in paper 3 can pop up again in paper 1! Yes, the faculty wants you to lose marks TWICE on the same topic even though you had a couple of hours to brush up on your info in between these two exams.
-Knowing every single core case does not guarantee you getting a full mark in any case. Questions can be poorly worded or just plain stupid.
-Paper 3 does not have LOADS of Neurology, the marks are distributed equally between blocks. Just as the handbook says.
-Paeds is hard as hell.......really hard.
-Obstetrics is obviously put down by a surgeon......wow, the recommended texts have LOADS of Obstetric surgery. *sarcasm*
-Amiodarone always shows up.....always.
-Paper 1 is insane.....again, always insane. The world had a hierarchy before I was born and I absolutely despise it.

No, but that would've been an easy one, for me at least.
We got "what is a salpingectomy"? and What are the intra-operative complications for the procedure.
And in paper 1 we got 5 patients presenting with tumors (some malignant and some benign with varying sizes) or menorrhagia(with differeing familial conditions) and you had to choose the right surgical operation. The world had a hierarchy before I was born and I absolutely despise it.
