    Lack of GCSE's

I have 1 B, 4 C's, 3 D's and 1 E (art, lol) at GCSE which I sat in 1996. I am now resiting Biology and English as my science was a DD and English was a C grade. In September I am resiting Maths as that was at a C aswell.

This is all the other uni's have asked me to resit but Liverpool said they will not accept my application unless I have 5 GCSE's at B grade or above.

If I study and extra one do I stand a chance of an interview? I have experience from volunteering and am applying to do an access to medicine course at the moment.

I think if Liverpool is saying they want the 5, you're best off giving them the 5. You could study maths and maybe chemistry over the summer or over the next year and just give them what they want. I still think it's a good idea for you to push your application back to 2011, just to give yourself a better chance, given that Liverpool is the one you really want.
    Good luck with it anyway.
Could end up at any one of these by 2010:
King's College London. That'd be for 5 years.
Hull or York. Again, this would be for half a decade.
Leeds. I imagine that it's not quite five years actually, but that's the general idea.
Cambridge. The idea here is that you spend three years and nine months becoming a doctor. That really is quite a bit less than 4 years.

Might even end up at Oxford. I threw in PPP as a long shot. I like Biology that much.

i also have a lack of GCSE's for liverpool...they want 15 points were an A/A* is 2 and a B is one. i got 4 A's and 6 B's so i sadly just don't cut it. i really want to study medicine at liverpool and i've even considered doing a graduate degree there after i study biomed/ something similar is neccesary but i think the 15 points applies for graduate entry too? :S

    GCSEfor Liverpool

From what I can remember from the open day last year, Liverpool where insisting on candidates getting at least 15 GCSE points. A and B grades are worth 3 and 2 points. GCSE should include maths and some sciences at grade B and above. They said failure to meet these criteria would definitely mean no interview.

She's a mature though, so not necessairy the same requirements apply. I think if Liverpool said they want 5 GCSE's at B, then I would advice go with that I'm afarid Liverpool are one of those few med schools that are a bit fussy when it comes to GCSE's.

    Good luck!
