    Interviews

Just to let everyone know that Liverpool are starting interviews!
I have one on the 8th of November which rather shocked me!!!!! I got this big chunky letter through with the liverpool crest on the envelope and I didnt want to open it, cos I was convinced it was a rejection!!! I think I've probably got mine through before others even though a load might of been posted at once cos i only live 20 miles away from there!
Anyway has anyone else got an interview, or anyone got any advice or ideas about an interview there?

The next challenge now is to sort out the outfit!

To eveyone who hasnt heard anything yet tho, dont worry. Liverpool call one in 2 for interview, dont finish til march and dont give any offers until after all interviews are done!!! And just to put paid to the theory of interviews given alphabetically my surname starts with a H! my Ucas went on the 5th Oct tho!

    (How did that happen?)

    Hard work starts here

i got asked all about my personal statment, i didnt feel that any of the questions were generic, however you should learn all about how PBL is done at liverpool e.g. role of facilitator, chair, scribe etc, beacuse i heard they sometimes ask you alot on that. Come to think of it I think I had 2 questions on PBL. Just drop in a few key words like those and you'll be fine. Well that was last year anyway.haha

Interview is really relaxed, i'd say maybe take a newspaper to read for when you're waiting your turn- first impressions and all that as well. OH! and stay/get there for the tour! definitely. It swayed my decision big-time, I was that impressed with the HARC and clinical skills. Good luck guys!

    Advice on interview

If you do a search, you will find lot's of great advice on this forum and others.

Two things that really helped me:

    1) Doing a practice interview with a friend.

    2) Reading that big chunky letter carefully and following the advice in it to the letter. I am sure every interview is different, but in my interview they asked about everything they said they would in the letter. I don't have the letter in front of me now, but I seem to remember that it said something like "you should be familiar with the Liverpool Course." Somewhere on the university website or maybe it was the ucas website they have an example PBL scenario. I found this really helpful and was able to discuss it in my interview.

Best of luck to all of you.

    Hey guys!

Just thought id lend a helping hand. Offers at Liverpool are given out before interviews are over! Sorry to scare you guys. My interview was at the beginning of nov and i had an offer a week later. It all depends tho, may have changed in the last 2 years.

Definitely wear a suit or at least go smart, don't worry about being nervous, they expect it and above all don't be over prepared. If you have any queries about PBL at Liverpool don't hesitate to send us a pm or ask on here, will answer anything i can help with!!!!

what if the interview letter gets lost in the post?
do they ask to confirm your interview date? so if someone doesn't would they call you up or smth? probably not lol

berina - if you go on the uni of liverpool medical school web pages, there is a good bit of info on the PBL style.

I dont think youll be getting any calls to be honest persianmedic. Maybe they would if you didnt turn up on the actual day, to ensure you hadnt been in some sort of accident
if you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours
