hey!! i'm taking the pre-med course at the moment and finding it really good. theres a lot of work to it.. basically the same as a bio-medical first year course. it helps because you get a guaranteed interview (which u can choose 2 b either at liverpool or lancs.. ive already had mine!) when i had my interview for pre-med, they were really informal and asked basic questions such as why medicine and about work experience. the course is for people who dont have the right a levels etc eg some people in my course never took a/as level chemistry.. anyways.. i hope that helps!!

Supanki, thanks for that, you answererd the questions I was just going to ask!

Errm, I got a letter for interview on Thursday, if that helps.

I think I'm going to go, but it seems a bit of a risk, you still might not get into med afterwards (although, is it a definate interview??) and those who didn't do chem does this certificate make up for it?

no there is no guarantee that u will get in.. but i feel it has helped me loads. ive had 3 interivews so far so thats not bad!! also my medical knowledge has improved soooo much. with the definate interview, if u do get an offer, liverpool ask for 60% in each unit. Each unit contains 5 modules. other universities that u may apply to, for example Keele or UEA ask for 70% overall. Usually, liverpool give 10 offers out of 25, who take the course but that is flexible. if only 2 are good enough, they will give 2 offers. if all 25 of u are excellent then they may give 25 offers, it depends.also, during the course, you get chance to do some work experience at Lancaster Infirmary and u experience PBL as we do hav a couple o PBL sessions which i find really good. this helps wen a uni asks what is involved in PBL, so u already have some experience of it. the certicificate shud make up for the chemistry as we do chem beyond a level. but i must warn u, not all the top univeristies eg sheffield, as ive been told, accept this certificate. a lot o people on my course have applied to less competetive unis such as keele and UEA but as i see it, u cant be too fussy if u want to get into medicine. In my personal opinion, ive made the best choice because i also experience uni life and ive made loads of new friends.. yes its hard work but its worth it in the end xxx
