    chem practicals

Is it just me, or does anyone else find chem practicals hard, mine usually turn out wrong, I'm doing an AS level in chem and hope to study med in 2005. Your help with how to deal with practical mishaps would be greatly appreciated.

I hated my chemistry practicles. I had one disasterous one where i through the product down the sink before i'd done any of the tests on it, which was the whole point! Unsuprisingly i failed that one. But we got to do another insteald if we did badly. The reassuring thing is that everyone finds them really hard therefore you often do alot better than you think, it is also alot less stressful than course work, i thought. Dont worry about them too much, each individual practicle is only a small % of final grade. Speak to your teachers if your really worried

With OCR chemistry it is realy stresful as you do practical exam on the one day, have only 1 exercise and 1 chance to do it right so the pressere on the day is huge. I was paniking befere my practical but completely unesesary as I droped only 1 mark in total  .

Hi, thanx for the rapid responses. Our board is OCR and we have an assessed practical in march so hopefully plenty of time for practice. Much prefer the theory, even the calculations-agh must be mad!

no, no! The calculations are the best bit of theory! It's the writing part I don't like

I did Edexcel Nuffield which is practical based, enjoyable in the lessons but then you have to remember the procedure and results in the exam..................

OMG I have to agree that practicals are the best bit of chemistry - its all the theory i hate - IM good at maths soz the calculations arent bad its just everything else!

We got an Iodine thiosulphate titration for my chemistry practical - my worst nightmare - but if you no your stuff they can be sorta easy!

just keep your head as my mummy alwaya says to me

    BYE BYE!
